For reviewers and educators
Citrine reviewer kit
A practical starting point for evaluating on-device Android automation for Coinbase Advanced BTC and ETH perpetual futures.
Start without credentials or a deposit
Install from Google Play and choose Explore. The Guided Demo, Paper Mode and standard historical backtesting can be evaluated without a subscription or Coinbase API key. No real-money purchase or trade is needed to review those features.
- Get oriented. Open the Guided Demo from Support, then return to the workspace. Notice how Markets, Edge, allocation, positions and portfolio have distinct roles.
- Inspect the decisions. In Paper Mode, choose a hypothetical balance and open BTC and ETH Edge details. Read the conditions, timers and estimated capacity. Readiness alone does not guarantee an immediate order.
- Check the accounting. As a simulated session develops, compare portfolio and position details. Distinguish unrealized PnL, realized PnL, fees and funding, and read the basis and reporting period.
- Test a completed period. Choose a standard backtest over available completed dates. Inspect trade outcomes, net results, costs, funding coverage and peak-to-trough drawdown. Export the run to examine its assumptions and details.
For a deeper walkthrough, use the product guide, mode comparison and backtesting methodology. Citrine uses a built-in strategy; it is not a custom strategy editor or a bridge for importing another platform's trading system.
The Android futures software buyer guide offers a product-fit checklist. For a concrete accounting check, work through the bid/ask, slippage and fee example before interpreting a simulated result.
A short lesson you can host
Read a futures backtest before judging its return. Use this six-minute outline for an Android screen walkthrough or a community session. Participants can follow along in free Explore; no account credentials or real orders are needed.
- Set the context. Select an available completed period and record the dates, starting equity and allocation. Keep those inputs visible so the result has a clear basis.
- Separate the outcomes. Inspect closed trades and positions still open at the end. Compare realized and unrealized PnL with the net result. A trade does not have to close for the run to contain exposure.
- Read the costs once. Open the accounting explanation. In current results, realized PnL is after closed-trade fees, unrealized PnL is after open-entry fees, and funding is separate from those values. Net PnL already includes recorded fees and funding; do not deduct the displayed fees again.
- Check what the headline leaves out. Read funding coverage, drawdown basis and execution assumptions, then export the run for private inspection. Let participants explain one result in their own words rather than choosing a winning run.
Download the lesson outline and participant worksheet. It includes a no-trade alternative, discussion prompts and links to the native screens and methodology. Reviewers may adapt it for independent coverage; no positive assessment or affiliate relationship is expected.

Product facts
- Product and developer: Citrine by Citrine Edge. Android package:
com.citrineedge.citrine. - Supported live market: Coinbase Advanced BTC and ETH perpetual futures on Coinbase Derivatives Exchange (CDE), evaluated concurrently. Coinbase determines account and market eligibility.
- Operating model: Automation runs locally on Android. Funds remain in the user's Coinbase account; imported API credentials stay encrypted on the device using Android Keystore-backed protection, rather than on Citrine Edge's servers.
- Modes: Paper uses hypothetical funds; Shadow simulates from authenticated account inputs; Observation monitors without managing orders; Standard with Complete enables live automation when all requirements are satisfied.
- Research data: Backtesting uses recorded trades, one-second bid/ask data and reconstructed price paths. Results account for fees and available funding data, with coverage and assumptions disclosed in the result details.
- Live requirements: A supported ECDSA key for the Default portfolio, the relevant View and Trade permissions, an eligible Coinbase account, sufficient capacity and a paid Complete subscription. Local operation needs power, connectivity and appropriate Android background settings.
Current subscription options are on the pricing page and in Google Play. Fees charged by Coinbase are separate. Review the security model and risk disclosure before enabling real orders; simulation is not a guarantee of live performance or uninterrupted protection.
Controls worth testing
Play starts or resumes a mode when its requirements are met. Pause holds new entries while eligible live-position management can continue. Exit Citrine shuts down the local runtime without automatically closing positions or canceling existing exchange orders. Verify urgent account and order state directly at Coinbase.
